The International Center of Advanced Computing for Medicine (ICAM) [https://icam.unipv.it/] is a collaborative research center established by the University of Pavia (UniPv) and the Università della Svizzera italiana (USI) in Lugano, dedicated to advancing medical research through cutting-edge computing technologies. The center interests are focused on the advanced computational analysis of clinical and preclinical data, with particular attention to imaging techniques. The different research groups treat topics concerning biomedical physics and engineering, artificial intelligence, machine learning and radiomics, biophysical mechanisms in living beings, semi-automatic and automatic analysis of preclinical and clinical data.
The Zuse Institute Berlin (ZIB), an interdisciplinary research institute for applied mathematics and data-intensive high-performance computing. Its research focuses on modeling, simulation and optimization with scientific cooperation partners from academia and industry. From March 2024 on, ZIB joins the collaboration of UniPv and USI, being partner in the ICAM. Dr. Martin Weiser will represent the ZIB in ICAM’s scientific committee.
The institutionalization of existing scientific cooperation will support intenser collaboration and foster scientific exchange, strengthening the role of the three partners in the European research landscape and advancing research in computational medicine.
